UAS4STEM
UAS4STEM is an nonprofit international drone engineering competition we compete at every year at the end of July at EAA Air venture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. For the challenge we build and test our own drone and assemble a team with the goal of earning a top score and the rewards that come with top placement. All members of the Midtown Mavericks are given the opportunity to try out for the team and earn a spot at the competition.
In 2024, the Midtown Mavericks attended UAS4STEM with a new drone that had undergone several upgrades since the previous year. We upgraded our pickup mechanism and incorporated many new technologies into our drone such as more 3D printing, a new digital camera, as well as modifications to the frame of the drone and its performance. These new modifications allowed us to be the first team to attempt the moving target and perform our mission quickly and safely.
